Description

Chief Clinical Trials Officer
University of Oklahoma Health Campus
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences and OU Health seek an inaugural Chief Clinical Trials Officer (CCTO) to lead the development of a coordinated, system-wide clinical trials enterprise. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished clinical trialist and collaborative leader to build research infrastructure, expand access to clinical trials, and shape the future of clinical research across one of the region's leading academic health systems.
OU Health Sciences and OU Health provide a strong foundation for growth. Clinical trials are active across multiple departments and specialties and are supported by a large patient population, experienced investigators, established research infrastructure, and growing institutional investment in clinical and translational research. The OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center, Oklahoma's only NCI-Designated Cancer Center, has established particular strength in early-phase clinical trials and demonstrates the potential for broader expansion across the enterprise.
The opportunity is enhanced by the University's ambitious Project 200 initiative, which will recruit approximately 200 leading researchers, including 50 clinical trialists, significantly expanding research capacity and creating new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth. As research activity accelerates across the institution, the ability to support and scale clinical trials will be critical to achieving these ambitions.
Reporting to senior institutional leadership, the CCTO will help shape strategy, strengthen operational performance, foster collaboration across academic and clinical departments, and advance a more coordinated approach to clinical research. As an inaugural leader, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence how clinical trials are organized, supported, and delivered across the Health Campus while enhancing access to innovative therapies for patients throughout Oklahoma and the region.
Candidates should possess an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree and be eligible for appointment at the associate professor or professor level. The successful candidate will be an accomplished clinical trialist with experience building and leading clinical research programs, improving research operations, and collaborating across complex academic and healthcare environments. They will bring the leadership, credibility, and strategic vision necessary to engage investigators, clinicians, research staff, and institutional leaders around a shared vision for growth and to build a clinical trials enterprise that expands access to innovative therapies, accelerates discovery, strengthens research competitiveness, and advances the health of communities across Oklahoma and beyond.
